I think elderly should be taxed at a lower rate. But I put it not necessarily like they should be taxed less than the young but less than everyone else.

Ok then that makes sense. So truly any money I put in the roth and then use for my retirement would be "tax free" when I withdraw it. That could make a major difference. In terms of the self directed IRA... I have some investments now that basically I refuse to take any money out of so essentially I am using them for retirement. So I would like to move them into the roth ira so that I could get the tax benefits. I continue to look at them.
