My current job I credit the veteran's representative at the Employment Office that I went to for getting the job. To clarify, he was always sending my sister (also a veteran) and I job postings, because his job was to help veterans find work. I was working another job, but he knew I was in a job search and he contacted me to let me know that a job with this company was opening up, I quickly did a cover letter and sent my resume and within 2 months was working there. The key was, I was able to get my resume in early in the process.

I've never had much luck with networking really. I'm socially inept for the most part so I've always stuck to the state job bank for work prospects. I've always managed to find something that way, although it often takes quite awhile.
