This post concerns a child and is very triggering. Please do not read this post if you think you might be triggered.



Today I stopped by the local Exxon to buy a Pepsi. The cashier asked me if a man had offered to give me his child. I said, "No!", and asked what her what was happening. A man who is impaired has been trying to give his autistic son away to anyone who would take him. The cashier told me she didn't know what to do.

I told her to call 911. She said the man wasn't allowed in the store but that she had given cupcakes to the little boy because he was so hungry. I told her the little boy would be on the store's video then and the police could find him that way.

She promised me faithfully that she would call 911. I went down the street to my friend's business and called the police. Not one person called about that little boy but me. The cashier didn't call.

The boy is 6. The police took the little boy to his paternal grandmother, who is going to turn around and give the child back to his father. The police came and had me write a complete report. I told the police that if I hadn't called and the next day the news said the little boy was dead I would always think it was my fault.

I've been told over and over that the reason the Exxon employees didn't call the police was because they didn't want involved. Well, it's about time people step up and get involved! I was one of those children that everyone ignored even thought they knew perfectly well what was happening to me. I was one of the children whose father tried to give her away.
