I just read an article about things a man over 40 shouldn't do.
38 Things No Man Over 40 Should Own
A few months ago I read something similar for women over 50. Who gets to make these rules?
What's "wrong" with an adult having a roommate? (included in above article) Not everyone wants to be married. Not everyone who is single wants to live alone.
What's "wrong" with giving a friend who needs it a place to crash? Seems to me that's being a decent friend.
The rule about no flip-flops for men over 40 must have been written by a yankee. Here in the South they are a staple in footwear. Nah, not appropriate to wear to the office, but the beach or a picnic? H e l l yeah! (that's another Southernism)
The article for women said no t-shirts with sayings. WTF?!?! I own a stack of them. I pick which to wear based on my mood for the day. Again, not appropriate office wear, but for casual times? HecK yeah! Though I confess I sometimes wear one to work under a sweater so the saying doesn't show on days I need to express myself, even it it's only to myself.
The anti-baseball cap comment really irked me. Yet again, not appropriate for the office, but if I'm out and about and need to keep the sun off my face I'm going to wear one of my ballcaps! I don't know if this is a Southern thing or a rural thing, but ballcaps are everywhere around here and no one looks twice.
