I had fainting episodes when I was younger. I would get up from sitting or laying down for a while, stretch in just the right way and suddenly everything would go fuzzy and grey, then black and it would be lights out.
It's happened like this, in episodes usually once or twice a year, ever since I can remember.
The very first time I recall fainting was in school when the class was instructed to stand up during a standardized test and stretch to get the "blood pumping" in between segments within the test. I recall one moment standing and stretching, and the next moment I was crouching on the floor, one hand clutching the desk so I wouldn't completely topple to the floor. Some classmate of mine asked in a snide way "what are you doing down there?" and, of course, I was very embarrassed.
I had more fainting spells and it took one time when I fainted at school completely, lights out and hit my head on the floor with a loud smack (according to the teacher, I was obviously unconscious so I had no recollection), and scared the living day lights out of everyone in the room that finally my mom took me to see a doctor about it.
He said I had no reflex to keep blood in my head when I stood up too quickly and it all drained out for a few minutes and I would thus black out. He recommended I drink more water to dilute my blood and increase the volume within the arteries so it wouldn't all drain out as fast.
It hasn't happened in a long while, and I think a huge part of it was because I was on a med that dramatically decreased my appetite and I would hardly eat at all. Ritalin or something like that. Anyways, it hasn't happened since I was put on Abilify and began eating more regularly (a bit too regularly, but that's another issue altogether).
I do often get spells where things go grey and a fuzzy a bit, but nothing as dramatic as completely blacking out.
I hope you get things worked out, as fainting isn't really all that fun and makes people look at you and treat you funny.
