Well, this sux. My elderly cat Pumpkin has had a host of health problems the last year and a half, he's got diabetes, and pemphigus. The last 24 hours he's not himself. He threw up a few times, and isn't interested in his favorite thing...food. He's eating. But not like he usually does. There's no greed and gusto in it. It may just be yet another bump in the road. Or it could be the beginning of the end for him.
I'm very sad. I just had a conversation with him while he was resting telling him how much he's meant to me. I adopted him in 2004 when he was 2 from a no kill shelter. I was diagnosed in 2005 with MDD. He was there for me then and he's been with me through so much over these last 13 years. He just finished eating a little bit, and he's drinking water. He goes to the litter box by himself, but today, I just saw something so different about him. He seems so weak. I was hoping I'd have a little more time. He's my best friend. My first cat and my first pet that was mine alone. All the dogs in my life had been family pets. He's followed me to various apartments, different states and now we're back home in Calif. It's just sad to watch.
Thanks for reading.
