Yes, newspapers and TV news are open 24/7/365. I had to work Thanksgiving; my officemate gets Christmas.

My closest family is 2.5 hours away, but honestly, even if I didn't have any close by, I still wouldn't want to work on a holiday. A day off is a day off! -- and all too rare for me.
