Oh, yeah, talk to your doctor, and go in there ready to MAKE yourself heard, no matter how hard that is. A lot of meds, especially psychoactive meds, can cause a lot of weight gain -- and a lot of doctors still want to tell you that you're eating too much and not exercising enough. If your doctor is one that won't discuss med related weight gain, consider finding a new one, one with a clue.

That kind of weight gain is horribly distressing, and there's no way around that. Many times, there are other meds that might work without the weight gain, and other times there are meds that can help counter the weight gain. You'll have to talk to your doctor about which meds you're taking can cause weight gain, and what the best thing to do about it will be.

Another suggestion, which I give everyone who has this problem, is to keep a food and activity diary for a couple of weeks before seeing your doctor. That can help you show that you're not just scarfing down a cheesecake every afternoon, and then sitting on your back end for the rest of the day. Even housework burns calories, you know?

Good luck.
