Jellyfish18,

What you have described is a physical assault upon another person(s). Laws on assault vary by country and in the US, they also vary by state. Since each country and state has its own laws, there is no universal assault law. No one here can give you an exact legal answer. Only a local, licensed attorney can give you the best advice on the laws of your area.

As a general rule, a physical assault is more egregious than a verbal or psychological assault. The common law reasoning is that a physical assault has the potential to cause bodily harm or death more quickly therefore the threat is more imminent. That makes physical assault more dangerous in the eyes of the law in most locales. So, in essence, by hitting another person(s) you placed yourself in a class of crime (assault) that is legally acted upon before certain other types of crime. Physical beats verbal every day of the week. Arrest, detention or incarceration depends upon the laws of your area and how they are implemented. Jails are not helpful places and look bad on your record whereas a hospital will probably be your best bet.

I hope things calm down and you are able to take a clear look at what is happening.
