umm yes toxic mold can cause depression anxiety brain fog, insomnia and more. I have not read the article but here where I live doctors actually ask whether a persons home is infested by black mold (toxic mold) the spores and odors given off by black mold can cause many problems in a persons body. mold spores feed on organic material the human body is one big feast for black mold. it gets into your lungs, eyes, ears, on your skin and yes also changes the brain chemicals in your body.

my treatment providers explained it like sitting in front of a full garbage can inhaling day after day after day until landlords and home owners discover the black mold and have it removed.

not only does the black mold affect in physical ways that can cause a person to have their mental health symptoms of anxiety, depression it also affects things like a persons social life... imagine your home smelling of moldy mildew gym towels and a friend comes to visit. does that make a person feel emotionally good about their home and having their friend sit there visiting them in that spore ridden atmosphere, how will the friend react when they smell the mold.... my own friends would refuse to come to my home, that right there is to cause me anxiety about my home smelling so bad even my friends dont want anything to do with coming over for a visit...

my point I wouldnt think it is safe to be smelling garbage, day in and day out, mentally or physically. which is why treatment providers (mental and physical ) tell me black mold can cause a person to have anxiety, depression and a whole host of other mental and physical problems.

my suggestion if someone is renting a place with black mold infestation to contact their landlords/ managers to have it removed if you own your own home there are many great cleaning services that do include mold removal.
