Moonkin,
It's normal to feel scared about applying for a new job. This doesn't go away with age and experience -- finding a new job can be loaded with anxiety. The idea is to tame the beast anxiety, with lots of good ideas like people here have already given.
Having a job will definitely cut back on your pondering, which can make everything seem worse.
I like the sound of the movie theater, because people who go to the theater are usually in a good mood. I know you'll make a good decision.
BflatGary makes a good point about seeing if you can find an application online. Even if you can't, and go down to the theater, and speak to the manager like Gary suggested, it will put you ahead of the crowd.
If you find a job you like, and do well at, it will build your self-esteem, and give you valuable experience to put on your future resume.
Let us know how it goes.
