Sometimes psychoanalysis is the only model that will result in a person being able to move forward. I spent 10+ years in psychotherapy due to torture trauma, where my Psychiatrist dismantled my psyche. It was a long process, but ultimately yielded positive results. Finding an experienced analyst who is invested is all important...the expense can be high, so be sure to find a good one from the get go.
