Im glad you found someone that you feel trust and safety in.... (what tells me that you trust and feel safe with this person... you told them your main support was psych central... my own treatment providers know I come here one because they recommended the site to me, and the others because I have great trust and safety in them, I know that if they come here, they will recognize my posts but know that they will not think negatively or cause me problems or question why didnt I tell them about this or that.you know all those questions that can come up when you think about telling someone something so deeply personal as being in a mental health website support group or mental health group outside of the internet. the fact that the first thing upon meeting your new therapist you told them something so personal like psych central says a lot in how much you trust and feel safe with this person. I mean it isnt like discussing the most common everyone does it kind of thing, you disclosed something that most people do not disclose to their treatment providers for fear that they will come to psych central and read their posts. anyway the fact that you did that tells me you had a great session and feel this person is highly trustworthy and a safe person to be with. Im happy for you.
tip for having your treatment provider know you are here on psych central....I have found it is very helpful and has many times led to great discussions, questions and reveals about myself...that said I have read posts on psych central about others feeling un comfortable with their deeply personal reveals on psych central because they hold back from their treatment providers or they feel their treatment provider may be reading their posts.... you can ask for a name change through the moderators and any posts that you feel revealed too much you can contact a moderator who can delete or edit the posts. there is a limit of how many times they do this though. my point now that your treatment provider knows you come here to psych central if you are not completely comfortable / safe and trusting of this treatment provider you may need to be very choosy on what you now post and choose which posts accidentally revealed too much when and so on.
Again Im glad you found someone that you feel you can trust to know that you come here. that says a lot in how the session went.
