I am in 9th grade, but started playing with my hair when I was in 7th grade. I would take a lock and examine it and isolate hairs that were different- reddish or blond in color, too thick or thin, or coarse, textured hair. I would examine the isolated hair, sometimes pull it out. This wasn't a problem for me at all though. I slowly did it more frequently, and this past school year (9th grade, so two years in), I started pulling apart split ends and noticed I was pulling hair when I was bored. This wasn't a concern for me, and I could stop it. But over the summer it all of a sudden escalated into this uncontrollable addiction thatg left me with a massive bald patch on my head. I pull whenever my hands are free at times. I wish I could just stop.
