I recently was diagnosed with hypothyroid and bought a book last month,
The Thyroid Solution: A Revolutionary Mind-Body Program That Will Help You by Ridha Arem, M.D., an endocrinologist. I'm just getting around to reading it now am surprised how much new-to-me information I'm getting out of Chapter 5, titled, "Thyroid imbalance, depression, anxiety, and mood swings".
Aparently they're starting to think that one of the thyroid hormones, T3, might be a major brain chemical like serotonin and the others. Research has found that some people have an okay thyroid and blood level readings but a brain problem in using it and that affects mood and when added to Lithium it actually helps some bipolar patients for both mood swing and depression where nothing else alone has been able to.
There's other chapters that address other things that may be thyroid related, like Fibro and CFS.
