The hardest thing I ever had to do at 14 was go to my school nurse (I'm dating myself here) and tell him exactly what was going on. A female teacher came in with me, and they photographed the bruises, the burns, and everything else. They took me to the ER, and the nurses and docs there admitted me to a room, and would not tell my mother where. Of course, DFCS came in, and I was removed, but it was worth it. There are good foster homes out there. . .if that's the answer.
