I think we build up in our own minds what this "so called" romantic love feels like. Most love isn't all romantic but the romance comes from just loving to be with the person & enjoying just being together without the fireworks going off every time we are with them. While having the romantic side being an expression of just enjoying being together.

I think even that doesn't exist for many of us & after a very long (too long) bad marriage I am totally satisfied with my alone existence while having good supportive friends. Sometimes people find that one person they totally connect with but it doesn't happen often & even then there is a lot of learning to tolerate assuming those things being tolerated aren't hurtful to the other person
