I have multiple autoimmune conditions, as many of you know.

For 2 years, I'd had auto-antibodies to components of my own blood, which also interfered with the function of my central nervous system. I was confused, dazed, had severe headaches 24/7 and was confined to dark rooms.
The ER thought I was simply nuts. My PCP was at a loss. My rheumatologist found the antibodies and treated me. Fortunately for me, the antibodies disappeared after 2 years. We still do an annual check for them.

My pdoc was telling me, just last week, that a very high percentage of his MI patients also have overt autoimmune conditions, which causes him to wonder about any potential correlations between autoimmunity and MI.

Maybe we'll know more about this some day.
