I wouldn't say women expect us to be creepy because we're men. I think they're happy to find someone who isn't creepy! I'm very shy in public, and don't say much, I'm afraid to say hello to people I don't know well etc... And I think people sometimes think I'm creepy because I'm so quiet. But I found out, once people get to know me a little, they never thought I was creepy at all. What you did doesn't sound creepy, it'll probably blow over. But don't try to be creepy on purpose because you think that's what people expect. Be yourself! It works.
