Thanks everybody! It will be hard to share things with people in a group setting, but I realize also that I can learn from others.
I've been researching about DBT online and printed off some handouts from Marsha Linehan's book and been reading/trying the exercises.
I talked to my friend, Eric, that will be working for me at the hotel as my assistant. He's worked for me twice before and knows my standards. We're both really excited about next week.
I can't understand how my predecessor kept the position. Already I have typed up a page of goals for my department - I am the banquet manager for a large hotel chain - that I plan on implementing asap. My boss sent me an email telling me that there has been no accountability or responsibility taken for that dept. and she expects that to change with me.
I can do that, no problem. There's been a lot of complaints about things, simple ones that never should have occurred. That will all change as well. Eric never was brought into the loop of things going on, and I plan on training him much more extensively than he was getting. He doesn't even have a manager's log book for communication purposes or held the quarterly staff meeting yet <shivers>.
The lack of organization has to end. I am very detail-orientated and efficient. People have been so used to the old ways that there will be resistance, but I am already anticipating interviewing ppl so that we are not completely abandoned.
I am just so excited about this job! Ahhhhh, I need to calm down and breathe........lol.
