It has been years since I took it, but I believe it is an immediate medicine. It doesn't change effects over time. It made me jittery also, which is why I stopped. I have apnea, which is how I got it before insurance companies were easy about it. It was approved for alertness if you had a sleep disorder. I also like the clarity.
