Sounds terrible, I'm sorry this happened to you.
But it sounds like a rubbish place to be in. It's pathetic the boss wasn't going to investigate the issue and allow the corrupt behavior to go on.
I suggest leaving this to the workplace, and as for yourself, to find a more humane place to work in.
