Hmm, I find that providing specific examples helps to back up my statements so that they are more believable and more easily understood. When you can provide examples of what you are trying to explain about yourself, it's harder for people to misunderstand and misjudge. Perhaps that will help? And perhaps you hold your cards close to you out of self protection if you are hard to read? Many people do this... it is common and I think is self protective.
