I agree that telling a psychiatrist that you want to have a medication prescribed for you that you have been obtaining illegally will not like result in that being prescribed for you. Vyvanse is speed-it gives most people more energy.

My pdoc has prescribed a med called NuVigil for me; he says it is speed with the fun stuff taken out. He wanted to see if it would give me more energy. It didn't do much for me-but it might help you.

It's possible that the Celexa will alleviate your depression enough that you won't need anything else. I think it certainly makes sense to ask a psychiatrist for that, since you believe you can afford it. There may be other meds that you can afford as well-you could look up antidepressants on GoodRx to see what kind of deals they can offer for various ADs.

Your therapist will likely not be able to help with meds other than to refer you to a psychiatrist. While some psychiatrists do therapy with people, usually someone who uses the title therapist is not a Dr and can't prescribe medication.
