The interviews at a senior level ARE very intense! For me, there is just far too much that I have to know, so any random challenge question can ruin me in the interview process.

That last part of what you wrote I found to be true as well. And then you're stuck, miserable working for a toxic company. I've dealt with that scenario too many times myself.
