Perhaps try a temp agency or a head hunter that has contract positions. Also put a business page on Facebook and LinkedIn. they are free. You can show your work and write articles, etc. to get noticed. Having a website helps too.
Best of luck

Glad you started getting some clients.
I am doing more with LinkedIn now, and plan to start writing some articles on their site to get noticed. I have a couple of blogs and am putting together a portfolio of some of the better content too.
I'm also taking some assessments at OneSpace.com to qualify for data research and writing jobs. Not sure what they pay yet, but they claim you can advance and get better pay and better assignments as you prove yourself with good work.
The more I investigate the job market, the more I think most of us will be working from home from our computers as independent contractors in the very near future.
