I totally agree with this article and am glad it was written. In my own experience I suffered a post traumatic breakdown and ended up being misdiagnosed and only further traumatized when that was the last thing I had needed. And god forbid one challenge a professional because apparently the patient knows nothing and isn't qualified to call out any credentialed professional who believes their letters mean they are the ones in the know.
It's pretty bad when one has to have therapy for receiving bad therapy and the one thing I was told is that just because individuals acquire letters after their name, it doesn't mean that individual will actually "know" how to best treat patients and correctly diagnose. Sadly, a patient can suffer whenever their records "say" they have this or that written by a professional that may not reflect a "true" diagnoses but can be assumed that diagnoses is accurate.
Trauma patients are very susceptible to being misdiagnosed and misunderstood.
