I think that the idea of high or low status isn't real. Every person has their own concept of what that means. We imagine it up based on our life experiences and our perception of ourselves. It's different to everyone, so your opinion of yourself is really the only thing that can matter there. You can't ever know someone else's definitions of high or low status. And if you're struggling with depression, your assessment of yourself might be colored by negative thinking which makes even your own standard unfairly harsh. I think you could chuck that question completely.

But if you feel like it's important to you to know about yourself, then maybe make some decisions about what it means to you. And it sounds like you aren't sure how status should work in regard to how successful a person is. So maybe think about it in terms of an area that you are sure about. Like start looking at status with regard to something you feel good about to counteract any predisposition gives you to being self-critical. If you're going to judge yourself, judge yourself against your own standard. And since it's an imaginary concept, do it kindly. Why not give yourself the benefit of the doubt every chance you get.
