The time leading up to Christmas I also find to be worse than after Christmas. It is at least partially due to the overly commercialized Christmas season. I noticed Christmas supplies in my local Walmart the other day! In September! I love Thanksgiving but think it has been drowned out by the Christmas Shopping season.

I agree that what we used to enjoy as the divisions of seasons and holidays is now so rushed it's hard to enjoy them anymore. Then you add the traumatic memories and it's not a "happy" time. Before my world came crashing in I would get depressed (SAD) when the days got shorter. Now it's a continuous thing.
Have you ever used the Veterans Crisis line? They have a live chat function now. Used it last night and it wasn't as scary as I thought and the person was very caring and supportive.
