I would have taken it too. Plus, I wouldn't have cared if I was seen. Too many people are doing without and have a hard time clothing the kids and themselves for me to worry about some neighbor looking crossways at me.

I was trash picking on time in an affluant neighborhood and found cash in the trash. Real money in a coffee can, not much about $6 but, they threw it out and it was obvious because it was right on top in the can.

I was real happy to get that $6. If I see something nice in the trash, I pick it up. I can always sell it online.

Call me a trash picker but, I have a good sense of value.
If you were ever homeless, (I was), you wouldn't pass up nice usable stuff.
