I interpreted the caregiver bit as referring to the part above about therapy clients often coming from sub-optimal childhood homes since the author used "needed" in the past tense. Like, your clients needed healthy relationships where their perception was respected and validated by their caregivers. They didn't get that then, but you can do it for them now. I really liked the article.
