I hear there is a breakthrough point where it gets easier. I know that the 24 hour fast got a lot easier after I did it a couple of times.

I think it is kind of like running where there is a tipping point - not everyone who can run a mile non stop can run two miles non stop but nearly anyone who can run five miles non stop can run ten (even if they think they can't). With running it's breaking through the pain to discover a whole new universe of pain. I used to run 5+ miles 2 or 3 times a week. Then I tore up my knees and had surgery...
