Threads are closed because one or more of the posts contained within the thread violate one or more of the community guidelines. If you review the community guidelines, you can usually detect which posts are seemingly in violation in them in a closed thread. That's the explanation. I'm not sure there's much additional value in having us spell it out for each thread, as it's usually one member posting unsupportively toward another, talking about another member, or acting in some other way not in accordance with the guidelines.

Whenever possible, we try and simply remove the one or two offending posts in a thread and leave the thread open. However, when the thread moves faster than we have the time to get to it, there may be 4, 5 or a dozen offending posts by the time we've all reviewed it. At that point, the amount of work it takes to try and prune the thread in a way that still allows it make sense is usually more than it's worth, especially if the topic was so controversial to begin with.

I know to see such notices can be frustrating, but they simply indicate that the thread has become unsupportive and not really in keeping with our mission here as a mental health emotional support community.

Best,
DocJohn
