Several months ago meds were switched and started seroquel. Took about 10 days to get up to maintenance dose and I had huge improvements in short amount of time. During that time of at least 2 months, I did really really well in a lot of areas ie. hygiene, social, exercise, sleep schedule, etc that I hadn't been doing well at all before the change. Overall I was the best I've been in a really long time.
About 2 weeks ago now I started going on the upside. Got obsessed with some things in the news, couldn't stop reading about, got all kinds of conspiracy theories in my head about some things, barely slept I'm not sure but probably at least 5 days probably 7 or 8. When it started the first few nights it seemed like nothing happened when I took meds. No sedation at all. It's a blur somewhat but I know I took a small dose of prn klonopin a couple times.
Then I crashed, started sleeping almost entire day, no energy, sad, some suicidal thoughts, barely ate, no hygiene. That lasted maybe 5 days maybe 7, then I've started going back up again over the course of a couple days. Popping out of bed ready to get moving after 4-5 hours sleep. I organized every drawer and cabinet, cleaned a lot, spent probably $700 on a shopping spree for things around the house, invested 500$ into some risky stocks. That happened in two or three days.
I know it happened but seems like impulses totally over ran my thought process, and I only see that now because I dropped a few pegs after what I did last night with meds.
So last night after i got up way too early again for 3rd or 4th morning in a row, barely sat down the whole day organizing house and redecorating and was scarfing down any food I could find all day lol, I decided to take a full prn klonipon (which I hate, it makes me stupid, but it does help), some benadryl, a 25mg seroquel prn, and a extra seroquel XR 50mg as a prn that I had left from when we first started the xr and ir. So basically 75mg extra seroquel, the benadryl, and full prn dose klonopin. I usually only take part of tablet.
Just now I took another 25 IR which is not part of my normal schedule. So basically I'm adding 100mg/day to 600 total. I also take lamictal 200mg BID. I'll continue the prn klonopin for now also.
I slept right at about 8 hours and felt in a big fog the first couple hours. But I did cook breakfast on the stove which I haven't done at all lately. So I think I have slowed things down for now at least, and hope I might be able to take a nap today to get rid of the fog. My brain is still having racing thoughts pulling me in different directions and can't focuse on anything but I feel tired at same time.
Anyway I'm hoping that prns will settle me back out. I had a good stretch going for at least 2 months straight when we first changed things. Like, the best stretch in a couple years. I need that back, I was making great progress across the board. When I see doctor we will probably bump up the XR and add a morning dose, which is basically what I've already got started yesterday. I don't have enough prns and other tablets to go a couple weeks before I see him next but I'm going to see how the weekend goes and call Monday. By then I'll know if what I changed is working. I want to get 9-10 hours sleep which is my normal when things were going good. I know it's a lot but it's just how it is with seroquel. When I first started it I was sleeping more like 12-14 hours but it slowly went back into more like 9-10 like I was saying.
Does anyone have experience with Seroquel when rapid cycling was the issue that let to the med change, and what the outcomes were? And if and how the dosage was adjusted over time and what were circumstances like?
I am pretty certain Seroquel is the best thing I've been on and hopefully this is just a blip over the past several weeks, that we need a decent sized tweak.
I just want to get back to where I was, things were going really good and in some many ways my life was getting back on track.
Thanks for reading
