We've all lost count of the number of times we've seen someone post about unhelpful or even harmful things said by friends, family, co-workers, etc. And yet there are articles out there pointing out the more common misconceptions and flaws. So I thought I'd start a thread where we could put up links to stuff we could point people to.

I know some people won't believe it or bother to read it, but you can try. To that end, I'd suggest not including books, anything lengthly, or anything that isn't freely available.

Anyways, a quick search didn't turn up quite what I'd hoped for. Oddly enough, what seemed most comprehensive and helpful while still not being too much to read was the trio of links below to the Reader's Digest site. I'm somewhat concerned that Reader's Digest may not be considered particularly authoritative by a lot of people. And the website can be a little annoying. I was a little surprised not to turn up much of anything from the obvious professional associations. Many were rather perfunctory.

Please add any other material you found useful or promising. Obviously, some people are going to identify with and like some articles more than others, but I'm hoping we can put together a list for people to pick from.
Thanks for this!
