It definitely can happen. A new skill or event can trigger new OCD symptoms. When I began gardening, I became obsessed with my garden to the point of counting the number of plants. I even measured to make sure they were equally spaced apart. I would do this 50 times a day. I had to give up gardening.
The best thing to do is to be ok with everything not having to be perfect or exact. Something I still struggle with today.
