There are several flaws in that reasoning/argument.
The speaker isn't just an addict; all of us are more complex than that.
The speaker doesn't get to dictate how or when or what another person loves; the speaker only gets to choose how to respond to the love, not whether it exists or not.
No one is self-sufficient, self-made, stands alone. Someone makes, supplies, sells the substance; others give the "opportunity" to hit bottom and survive. Other people are there helping, interfering, observing, responding, reacting and providing "stimulus"; and oyster cannot form a natural pearl without the grains of sand. As John Donne said, "no man is an island, entire of himself".
