I'm so sorry you're experiencing this! Chronic pain can and does affect every aspect of life, not just physically. Maybe your body is crashing from all of the stress, but the positive aspect of that -if it's the case- is that you may bounce back once you've had some rest from your episodes (though I know you continue to experience stress).

I have a pain syndrome (Central Pain Syndrome) that started after an emergency cervical spine surgery when my spinal cord was being dangerously compressed by a disc. Afterwards I felt like my skin had been torn off and every touch to my skin was excruciating. There's also an all-over burning, like on fire, aspect to it. Before good treatment, it would both cause depression and make it a lot worse. But the proper treatment has alleviated all of that. I've been very fortunate.

Please keep seeing your rheumatologist. Maybe there are other medications and treatments that can help. This is can only exacerbate other symptoms (sorry) and I hope you get relief soon. I know what it's like and it's hell. I so hope you improve soon. Your mind -and now body- need rest. You need a break and I hope you get it.
Thanks for this!
