I was not close to my mother or father either. (It's a long story.) My mother passed away first. At the time I was living in the western part of the U.S. My parents lived in the east. I flew back for the funeral & spent a couple of days with my father. I don't really recall anything about the funeral itself. My father remarried a year or two after that. When he passed I did not go back for the funeral. There would have been no one there I would have known. They've both been gone now for over a decade. I still think about them from time-to-time. My condolences on your loss...
