It sounds like therapy would be very helpful for you in dealing with this issue.
If you have tried numerous jobs though and have not been able to keep them, it may be worth considering applying for social assistance. Being unable to absorb new information can definitely come along with depression and it is frustrating to deal with. Do you receive any psychiatric or therapeutic treatment at the moment for your struggles? If not, it wouldn't be a bad time to start. I also find that regular exercise and meditation helps to clear my mind and allow me to better absorb new information.
It may also be helpful to look at these past jobs that you were not able to keep...what type of jobs were they? Maybe you just haven't found the right match for yourself. A personal example is that I can't work in the food industry, restaurants or fast food, because it is too busy and stressful. However, I feel much more at home at my current job of doing aisle maintenance and stocking items, because it is mostly a solitary job where you can go at your own pace.
