When I get my prescriptions filled or refilled by Walgreens online they give me an option of having them sent by mail. You shouldn't have to deal with the insurance yourself--they'll let Walgreens know if they object. Probably they could let Walgreens deal with the doctors too if it became necessary. I'd just try clicking mail on the website and see what happens. (I'm assuming any other large drug chain works the same.)
