I must have had a goofy shaped thyroid since I was a teenager. The drs would always feel my thyroid during my regular phsyical, do bloodwork, and then nothing. I am 50 now.

2yrs ago the size of those nodules increased to the point of changing my voice and was beginning to make swallowing difficult.

The dr did an ultrasound and then I had a needle biopsy done, no big deal really. The endo wanted to take the thyroid out regardless of what the biopsy said .... and I did.

Seems my thyroid was pretty screwed up. I had hashimoto and a small amount of thyroid cancer . I had the entire thyroid removed and now take levoxyl daily.

All and all it wasn't a bad surgery and now at least I can regulate the thyroid hormone by meds instead of letting my sick thyroid go crazy on it's own.

Good luck.....and don't worry easier said then done I am sure

Take care
