The fact is, employers are looking for reliable employees and it should not be an odd request to expect regular attendance. When an employee misses many days (like I have at past jobs), it affects the bosses and co-workers in a negative way. People have to do more work to make up for that absence. It makes sense that there would be some negative feelings towards a co-worker who calls in sick or is unable to do their job efficiently, even if they have legitimate reasons for doing so.

That being said, I am not saying that their rude comments to you were the right way to go about things. But I would urge you to look at this job and ask yourself a couple of things:

1. Am I able to attend my job regularly, and stay for the duration of my shift?
2. Am I able to do the work efficiently?

If there is any doubt in either of those questions, it may be time to look at shorter hours, or even a different job that brings less stress.
And to answer number two. Monday I was too heated to work after my supervisor made that comment (stop evacuating mid afternoon) and the other guy saying thanks.
