So you can be a long-term productive member and contribute to your country's economic growth, showing psychological resilience anytime the job market asks you self indulgent, lazy mind to push yourself through yet another heroic hardship to serve your responsibilities and have human worth and dignity to boast the way you earn your right to live everyday and enjoy. That was sarcasm, just in case.

Now, seriously, there are just as many reasons (actually not reasons, but feelings) as to live as there are to die. You'll get patronizing answers (inherently discarding any meaning in wanting to die), as well as eugenetic ones ("I'd be actually glad the weak ones end up killing themselves so mankind's gene pool favors up the strong folks"). The important point behind it all, I think, is to control. We want control over not only our actions but our environments (and that's not totally wrong or unhealthy, sometimes you'll have to act for others before somebody else does in a way that conflicts with you). Wanting to die, is yet another act of claiming control over our situation, and when others intervene, they want control over their environment, from which you're yet another element. How reasonable is that or not, I don't have the answer for that.
