I'm not able to stop most medications cold turkey. I was on lamotrigine for 3 or 4 years. It didn't do much for me in terms of preventing mania or depression. All I can say is that I was more detached from my moods but not in a way that helped. A slow taper down, about as slow as the taper up worked. I was antsy and anxious at times on the taper but I do remember feeling more alive once I got off.
