I don't think I wanted the same thing from seeing a therapist that others seem to report. I wanted to know how therapy was supposed to work and what the therapist did by sitting there- I never wanted the therapist to do anything/have any effect on me until I understood what was going on. I am surprised that so many people don't seem to care as long as they think it is working.
I found a use for the woman when my person became ill - but that was only because she really couldn't mess anything up about that. And even the ones I saw couldn't screw up just sitting there while I talked about it.
