Please do not tell me this.

You do not know me. If you did, you would know control has been taken from me. You can tell me "take control back". Sure, that's easy to say. In fact, I did that once. You know what good it did me? None.

You do not know my life. It has not been "one situation". Do you truly think a person "chooses" rape? To have her mother die when she is just a child? To have weapons pointed at her? I could go on. Yes, We can choose our reactions. But you know - that takes time. Try going through abuse and trauma one right after another within weeks or months of each other. Do you think that's enough time to heal? Then - have people tell you "your life isn't that bad, get over it", ppl that are supposed to know - like therapists. Then have things clear up for a few years - get a taste of happiness, of what "ups n downs in life" means rather than just "misery of life" - only to have it yanked out from under you again.

Try doing all that. Give yourself 31 years to do it in - 28 of which is constant torment. Then come back and tell me it was choice. Only - in your case it would have been, cuz you opted to try it.
