Five hours is pretty typical for me, but it is apparently not enough sleep to help you feel rested each day so it may be time to consider some options. Might need to talk to your doctor about some medication options. They can start with something very mild and work from there. Being short on sleep is probably feeding your depression. Your therapist knows that which is probably why she's not really focused on your thoughts about giving up. They are just thoughts and pretty usual for someone who is showing signs of depression. You aren't actually suicidal from everything you've said here, and your therapist knows that too. What needs more focus is the issues that are feeding that depression, and the sleep deficit is probably the first thing that needs consideration. There is a reason sleep patterns are one of the first things they try to get a handle on with patients who are showing symptoms of depression or other mental health issues.
