Definitely consider celebrating later.

Once I was IP on my birthday. No one could even visit me that day because during that hospitalization I was in the dual diagnosis ward (mental illness plus alcohol dependence). They only allowed visitation twice during the work week and on weekends, and my birthday fell on a day with no visitations allowed. They did know it was my birthday and tried to make it special. Really, it turned out pretty nice, considering. I'm sure they'll have a special dinner on Thanksgiving. There is something to be very thankful for. Safety in the hospital.
