Hi, astoldbyginger, and welcome to Psych Central! You say some of her behavior is cultural. I think by American standards she'd be considered "toxic"-emotionally abusing. I don't think she'd change, even if you pointed that out, so, yes, it's up to you to get on with your life and try not to worry about pleasing her. Sad, but....
